MEMBERS of the local and wider Jewish Community came together in Ross-on-Wye for the public Menorah Lighting.
The event celebrating Hanukkah (or Chanukah) a Jewish festival of lights took place at the Market House and was attended by the town’s mayor, and other civic leaders as well as the Interfaith Adviser from Hereford, and others from Monmouthshire and Worcestershire,
The short ceremony, led by Rabbi Pink, who explained that he grew up with Rabbi Eli Schlanger in London and was saddened to hear that he was among those killed in the recent Bondi Beach attack in Sydney.
The event was held together with many non-Jewish local people who wanted to show solidarity with the Jewish community. A visible police presence was shown throughout the ceremony.
