STAFF, residents and supporters from Westbank Residential Home came together in the true spirit of Christmas to support women and families affected by domestic abuse, with a generous collection for West Mercia Women’s Aid.
Over the past few weeks, donations have been steadily gathered, wrapped and packed into dozens of festive bags, ready to be delivered to those who need them most.
The collection included thoughtful gifts, practical essentials and seasonal treats, all chosen to bring comfort, dignity and a sense of care during what can be an incredibly difficult time of year.
The response from the local community was overwhelming, with bags quickly filling cars and rooms as donations poured in.
Volunteers worked together to sort and prepare the gifts, creating an impressive display of colourful bags ready for distribution.
West Mercia Women’s Aid supports women and children fleeing domestic abuse, offering safe accommodation, advocacy and emotional support and where everyone can live without the fear and reality of all forms of violence, abuse and discrimination.
For many families supported by the charity, Christmas can be a particularly challenging period, making community donations like this especially meaningful.
Judy Powell, Westbank home manager, said: “We are incredibly proud of everyone who contributed. This collection shows just how much kindness and generosity exists in our community.
Knowing these gifts will help bring some comfort and reassurance to women and children this Christmas makes it all worthwhile.”
Westbank, located in Walford Road, would like to thank everyone who donated, helped organise the collection or supported the initiative in any way.
Together, the community has helped make a real difference to lives across the region.
Westbank has a full and varied activity programme runs seven days a week, led by a dedicated team focused on creating meaningful moments.
