Renowned sculptor, Walenty Pytel, who lives at Hartleton, near Ross, has chosen to re-create a picture painted by a blind student for a piece he has been commissioned to do for the Royal National College for the Blind in Hereford.

The original artwork is by Sarah Withers, who studied at the College. When Mr Pytel was asked to do a sculpture to stand near the gateway to the College he said it would be a good idea to use Sarah's Running Man' piece, (pictured below), which she painted in 2004, as the basis for his work.

Mr Pytel told The Ross Gazette: "I am delighted to be doing a sculpture for the College for the Blind and it will be the first time I have done something from another person's painting. I think it is particularly apt that the picture was created by a blind student."
