A great gathering of contemporary artists’ works, and an enthusiastic, generous public response, as well as good weather, all contributed to Penallt’s best ever Autumn Art Festival. For four days the centre of the village was transformed by flags, bunting and marquees in which artists and makers displayed their creations and several gave talks, demonstrations and ran workshops with children and interested adults.

Sales at the festival were lively, and gate money, and the proceeds from the raffle, enabled the Art in Penallt team, after setting aside funds to ensure that the 1917 festival can go ahead, to make £500 donations to two highly regarded local charities: Babington Meadow and Bridges in Monmouth.

Internationally renowned potter, Walter Keeler, patron of the Art in Penallt group, presented the cheques on Thursday, October 27th to Mark Walton, Bridges Centre Director and to Cllr Tessa Murray, Secretary of Babington Meadow Committee. They congratulated the team for the year-long effort they have made to make the festival, now entering its seventh year, a great success.
