The unseasonal mild weather did the trick in drawing out a large number of cyclists to take part in the Ross and District Cycling Club's traditional Boxing Day time trial event. Riders from Gloucester, Malvern, Hereford and The Forest joined a number of competing Ross club members to take on the 10 mile course from Walford to Lydbrook and back again.
The headwind on the outward leg proved to be testing for some and identified the stronger end of the field and those that have maintained a good base of fitness outside the normal racing season.
Forest-based rider Colin Parry now competing for the national Wilier racing team showed his class in a winning time of 25 minutes, 24 seconds, ahead of Jez Pile from Velo Club Sevale who beat highest placed Ross rider Will Bevan into third place at 25mins 29 secs.
