Talented students at John Kyrle High School have been showing off their cooking skills in a competition organised by the Rotary Club
Each contestant had to produce a healthy main meal and dessert for two people for under £10 and within one and a half hours. The competition was judged by Paul Kelly, a chef at the renowned restaurant, "The Bell" at Skenfrith.
Year 10 student, Lewis Jones won the competition preparing chicken breast stuffed with Stilton cheese wrapped in bacon with sweet potato mash and a red wine sauce followed by an apple frangipani tart for dessert.
Year 8 student, Ross Evans was awarded second place. In judging the competition, Paul said that the quality and presentation of all the meals this year were of a very high standard. Lewis will now compete against six other schools in the District Final.
