Twenty-five years after Tracy Castell opened her own salon in Ross-on-Wye, in partnership with Peter Hickman, she is proud to be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the business, and a refurbishment of the Barber Shop.

After working as a Saturday girl from the age of 14, Tracy began her hairdressing career as an apprentice with Peter Hickman MBE, one of the most influential names in local hairdressing.

He founded his chain in 1957 and now has six salons throughout Herefordshire and Gloucestershire, one of these is the Ross salon on Gloucester Road.

Tracy was trained personally by Peter Hickman at the Gloucester salon and has demonstrated her skills over the years, along with members of her staff, achieving the finals of the L’Oreal Colour Trophy, one of the biggest competitions in the hairdressing industry.

Tracy has been involved with many training events over the years and is passionate about encouraging her team to continually develop their skills. The salon trains stylists to Level 2 and 3 and is an assessor for City and Guilds. Tracy said it is one of her biggest pleasures to see her staff increase their understanding of the industry and their clients’ wishes.
