People in Hereford on Bank Holiday Monday may have thought they had travelled back in time if they saw a group of cyclists dressed in the style of the popular television programme ‘Call the Midwife’ coming towards them.
Midwives and staff from Hereford County Hospital completed a ‘Call the Midwife’ themed cycle through Hereford to raise money for the Hereford Birth Suite and The Born Sleeping Appeal.
The event was organised by midwife Theresa Bell, and supported by lots of midwives and maternity staff. Dressed as characters from the popular television series, the group cycled through Hightown, around the centre of Hereford and all the way to Castle Green, collecting donations and sponsorship.
As well as collecting donations along the route, the team were hoping to raise awareness of a campaign which is close to all of them.
The Born Sleeping Appeal is fundraising to build a bereavement suite for families who sadly have a baby who was stillborn. This is a very much needed facility for families in Herefordshire and they desperately need help to reach the target of £75,000.
The Call the Midwife cycle ride has already raised over £1,000 but further donations can be made at: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/t-bell1
