Dog lovers in Ross-on-Wye are being called on to help out at the Greyhound Rescue West of England (GRWE), as they are desperately seeking volunteers in the Herefordshire area, to assist with various tasks to support their work and to help them celebrate their 20th birthday.
Despite their name suggesting otherwise, the charity operate on a national basis, covering nine key regions, including the East. Formed in 1996, GRWE’s core areas of work focus on the rescue and rehoming of sighthound breeds, including greyhounds, lurchers and whippets, while also campaigning for better welfare for these often misunderstood dogs. In the Herefordshire region, the need is greatest for assistance with dog walking, events fundraising and PR and marketing, but all offers of help are welcome.
Anna Claxton, Volunteer Coordinator, said: "GRWE relies heavily on the kindness and dedication of our volunteers. There is support in place for all people donating their time to ensure an enjoyable volunteering experience. We hope to raise more awareness of our work in our 20th birthday year so really value anyone that can help us achieve that."
