IT’S been a busy few months for the Ross-on-Wye Cancer Support Group as it modernises itself to cater for the needs of the 21st Century.
The group have just started a digital journey and has put forward plans to raise its profile by holding a number events and undertaking a series of activities to benefit those being supported.
The digital journey is updating and improving it new website and Facebook presence, thanks in part after receiving a generous donation from Monmouth’s Kymin Dash event in April.
The cancer support group hope to attract new members from the local area.to its volunteer team.
The group holds monthly meetings, the next is on June 3, at St Mary’s Hall at 6pm with Mandy Anderson, providing a presentation on the benefits of Reiki for local people who are living with cancer.
The meetings often feature guest speakers and encourage people to share their stories and make connections with others in the same position. However, if people just want to attend and listen, that is all fine too,
Morrisson’s supermarket in Ross have kindly given the group some space in their foyer on June 14 to provide information and support to local people living locally with cancer.
The group states that they will be using this opportunity to make local people aware of what it offers so that they benefit from some of the services it provides.
As part of the group’s new initiatives a new Coffee Club is being formed which is aimed to provide another opportunity for local people affected by cancer to meet in a relaxed atmosphere. Coffee will be provided free by the Ross Cancer Group.
The first session will be held at the Esca restaurant and cafe in Broad Street on June18. However space is limited, so the group is asking people to pre-register via its website.
