Residents at Brighterkinds Ross Court are enjoying a series of events based around the theme of ‘culture’. Members of the local community have supported Manager, Mrs Auty and her staff, helping to provide a varied social programme.

The Ross Penyard Singers started the month by providing a preview to their forthcoming production ‘A journey into space’, performing a selection of songs such as Moon River, Space Oddity and Venus in Blue Jeans.

Mrs Liz Blake, from Ross-on-Wye, then took the residents on a journey to Zambia, talking about her childhood, growing up in the bush amongst the Lanbama tribe, only visiting the closest town once a year, and how her family came to build an orphanage which is still an invaluable part of Zambia today.

Local woodsculptor Dave Johnson visited Ross Court to share with everyone his incredible ability to turn wood into exquisite works of art. He explained where he finds his inspiration, and residents were speechless as he described his sculpture Chaos.

The theme continues with a talk on Cypriot Culture from Mr William Hazelton and an evening of fashion provided by Edinburgh Woollen Mill tonight (Thursday, May 25th) beginning at 6.30pm. If you would like to join the residents for the evening, please call 01989 764349 for further details.
