Outrage at plans to change the boundaries of parliamentary seats before the next election seems to have passed Ross by.

Draft proposals released last week did not seem to indicate much impact on local constituencies but MP Jesse Norman has questioned the wisdom of some of the changes.

He said: "I think it's crazy that the Boundary Commission wants to put the Golden Valley in the same constituency as Church Stretton in Shropshire. This means that people living in Eywas Harold will probably have to go as far as Ludlow to see their MP! This is daft - it was obviously created by somebody who has never been to Herefordshire.

"I will fight this proposal on behalf of my constituents in the Golden Valley."

There is a 12 week consultation period, ending on December 5th, where local people can have their say. But the commission will not be under any pressure to change their minds, and there will be no process of further hearings on their final proposals

Norman added:?"I would encourage all residents of the Golden Valley, whatever their political leanings, to write to the Boundary Commission for England, 35 Great Smith Street, London SW1P 3BQ – or email them at [email protected]">[email protected] – and make their views plain."
