Madam, A planning application to build five houses on the site of the Chestnuts Residential Home, Walford Road, Ross, was printed in the Hereford Times on February 14th. It will not be placed in the Ross Gazette.
Herefordshire Council has decided that all planning applications from Ross and South Herefordshire will no longer be printed in the Ross Gazette.
There was no consultation or warning that this was to happen, or how and why the decision was reached.
Planning applications, by law, have to be placed in the local paper. I believe that the Ross Gazette is the local paper for Ross not the Hereford Times. Is this yet another way that the Council will use to sideline Ross and the people who live here? The closing date for comments and objections to the Chestnuts application is March 7th.
These can be made online via herefordshire.gov.uk by email to planning enquiries.herefordshire.gov.uk or by letter to Planning Services, PO Box 230, Hereford HR1 2ZB.
To ask for more information on Herefordshire Council's decision not to advertise planning applications in the Ross Gazette use the above addresses, or a complaint form can be obtained from the Council Offices, Ross Library.
