A charity ball, held in memory of Lauren Hughes, raised £2371 for a children’s hospital, the Children’s Intensive Care Unit, in Staffordshire. The ball was held on Saturday, August 22nd, at Penyard House.
Despite some bad weather, the turnout was fantastic. The event was organised by Louise Stephens, one of Lauren’s friends. She was helped by Lisa Dean, her sister. Louise told the Ross Gazettethat the ball, which is held annually, seems to get bigger every year.
The ball is held in memory of the Ross-on-Wye teenager, who died of a severe asthma attack in May 2012. Lauren passed away at the Children’s Intensive Care Unit (CICU).
The care Lauren received at the CICU was described as “outstanding” by Lauren’s parents, in a report featured in the Patient’s Association, published in 2012, following Lauren’s death. They also wrote: “We have the greatest admiration for all of the staff on the CICU ward.”
