The pop-up charity shop in Ross-on-Wye dedicates the money it raises to different charities throughout the year. In just one week, the pop-up charity shop managed to raise £700 for Mayor Harry Bramer’s chosen charity, Papyrus. Papyrus aims to reduce the number of young people who take their own lives by shattering the stigma around suicide and equipping young people and their communities with the skills to recognise and respond to suicidal behaviour.
Iris Price, who manages the pop-up shop reminded everybody of the shop’s success in raising over £100,000 for all sorts of community projects and charities, and was proud to have raised £700 in just one week for the Mayor’s charity.
She gifted Councillor Bramer the cheque on Wednesday, March 27th.
Joyce Thomas MBE, who often helps out at the pop-up shop, told the Ross Gazette: “I support the Mayor wholeheartedly in all he has done for the people of Ross-on-Wye.
“Iris is a fantastic member of the community and I am proud to be one of her volunteers. She works tirelessly to oversee the running of the shop and is extremely grateful for the enormous help she receives from numerous good friends.”
Councillor Bramer said: “The generosity in Ross continues to astound me. Thank you everybody who has contributed to this, and for the hard work of all the volunteers in making this amazing achievement happen.”See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
