ROSS-on-Wye saw a huge turnout for its annual Christmas Fayre and festive lights switching on ceremony on Sunday.

The day began with over 80 traders lining the streets of the town, offering unique gifts, crafts, seasonal produce. And this year for the first time, Station Street was also be transformed into a foodie’s heaven.

The popular snow globe made a welcome return and Santa and his elves welcomed small children to his grotto.
A magician was spotted roaming around town performing tricks as he went while the Grinch entertained people in the Market Place.

And following a countdown Oliver Slater, aged seven, supported sister Lilly switched on the festive lights.
The Christmas Fayre was hosted by Ross Town Council with support from sponsors, Rehau, Taylor Wimpey and Dawley’s.

CHRISTMAS HAMPER: Members of Ross Lions took part in this year’s Christmas Fayre in the town and were selling tickets for the hamper with proceeds going to the Lion’s chosen charities. The volunteers are Mark Cooper, Keith Wilding, David Ravenscroft and Sue Wilding. (Tindle)

Pic 12: TREE TOPPER: The emblem for Ross Rotary Club was stolen over 20 years ago from the top of that year’s Christmas tree. However, it was returned just before Christmas last year with a note apologising for ‘the over exuberance of youth’. The emblem is now deemed too heavy to be placed on top of the tree, but it now forms the signage underneath the tree, exhibited by Rotarian Andy Inkpen. (Tindle)
