Awell loved church is appealing to residents and local busineeses to help raise funds to install new video equipment and upgrade its sound system.

The appeal by St Mary’s Church in Ross-on Wye is for goods and promise pledges for an uaction with a difference.

The event is due to take place at the church on Saturday April 2.

The newly reordered church is fast becoming a popular venue for events, being the largest and arguably the most beautiful and versatile space in the town.

It is hoped that the auction will be entertaining for everyone present and lots on offer will have a wide appeal.

To ensure its success, lots, which can be a gift or a promise, are invited from both individuals and local businesses.

Those who do donate can be assured they will be given lots of excellent publicity as all participating businesses will be acknowledged in the auction catalogue.

Organises are hoping that the lots to be donaed will inclujde meals, hair cuts, days out, holiday homes, art classes, concert tickets, plus offers for individuals or business to carry out cleaning, gardening, car valet, will writing, veg boxes or holidays.

The list is endless and all would make fantastic lots.

The auction is being organised by the church and we understand the wine will flow and tasty nibbles be served.

The PCC says it is grateful to auctioneers Nigel Morris (Morris and Russell) and Norman Bricknell (Morris Bricknell) who are giving their services free of charge.

Proceeds from the auction will go to St Mary’s, which, as well as its running costs, is looking to renew its old and failing sound system and install a new video system for the benefit of all who use the building.
