MADAM, It is over a month now since I wrote to the Gazette, highlighting the state of the culverts along the Walford road and other areas of Ross. Furthermore it is now over two months since I wrote to the council to make them aware of the situation and it probably comes as little surprise to your readers that I have neither had a response from the council nor has any action been taken to rectify the situation.

I find it rather ironic that when it comes to some non consequential event, the council are only to eager to grasp the opportunity for some self promotion and tell us how good they are and what a wonderful job is being done. It is a rather different story when they sit on their hands and do nothing, the silence is deafening.

I have no doubt that this rant of mine will also fall on deaf ears within the council as did the previous one. However, I am sure that when it comes to election time, the prospective candidates will not be shy in coming forward in the canvassing stakes, oh please! come and knock on my door.

The one consolation to all is, that with the good weather we have had recently, it at leasts puts off the risk of flooding for a while, and you never know we might be able to get a final cut in on the 'lawn', that is now springing out of the culvert outside my house.

Brian Stevens, Ross
