REMOVING asbestos roofing is among repair work totalling £320,000 which is due to be carried out at two local schools over the coming summer months.
Herefordshire Council is currently seeking contractors to carry out work, valued at £200,000 to replace and overlay a ‘failed’ roofing system, to remove asbestos ‘soffits’ or roof undersides, and to replace roof lights, at Garway Primary School, which was built in the mid-1960s.
Meanwhile Ashfield Park Primary School in Ross-on-Wye is set to have LED lighting installed and ceilings replaced, along with removing asbestos and replacing external lighting, with the work totalling £120,000 in value.
Both jobs are currently listed on the government’s contracts finder service as open for bids from contractors.
