Dear Editor

I felt that I had to reply to your article concerning questioning callers from last week’s Ross Gazette.

Early in December I received a phone call that was allegedly from HMRC - on hearing the words “Inland Revenue” I immediately hung up, managed to obtain the number that they were using and reported it to both West Mercia Police and Action Fraud.

All I would like to say to fellow readers of the Gazette is to be wary about these phone calls - they are malicious and could cause anyone misery.  Please, if you receive one, hang up and report it as soon as you are able to.  That way, we can beat them at their own game.

Thank you for the opportunity of highlighting this horrid scheme.
