Dear Editor
I saw in your editorial that you said that people were surprised at how beneficial the terms were to the Courtyard.
The fact is of course that no one else as far as I am aware has offered us any money whatsoever for going in there! And the "normal" terms for a commercial tenancy would involve the tenant in a full repairing lease, where they are responsible for the upkeep of the building.
No tenant is going to accept that, because the Market House as you know, is a listed Seventeenth century building with unpredictable and potentially huge repair costs in the future.
So the choices we have as a Town Council are restricted - we have to choose the least worst option!
