Greytree residents are celebrating after a planning inspector dismissed an appeal against a refusal to grant permission for 14 new houses on land off Greytree's spine road.
Resident Debbie Wareing, who has been co-ordinating the opposition to the scheme, said: "The whole community has come together to reject this application. The planners were for it, but county councillors on the Planning Committee rejected it unanimously and we have been supported by our local Councillors Chris Bartrum and Richard Mayo."
In January, Ross Rural Parish Council recommended refusal to build the houses on a field opposite Third and Fourth Avenue in Greytree.
40 Greytree residents attended a Parish Council meeting to discuss the application and Ross Rural recommended refusal on the grounds of high density.
Greytree resident Paul Monk said: "I'm glad the Inspector has used her common sense and listened to residents."
