A widow who had been left feeling isolated by BT, after she was without broadband or a landline for several months, has now reported that her connection has been repaired.

Rachel Knapton, who lives at Leys Hill, near Ross-on-Wye, explained that her landline had been cut off since August 8th, and her broadband had been non-existent for three months.

Yesterday (Tuesday) morning, Ms Knapton was told that the road would be repaired by Sunday (October 4th). However, by 9.30am, she was told by the MP’s office that someone from BT was carrying out repair work to cables, there and then.

Rachel estimated that the repair work must have taken about an hour. She is delighted to have her landline repaired, and she even has her broadband back.

A BT?spokesperson confirmed that services were restored yesterday. They told the Ross Gazette: “Around 16 customers (who could take their service from any communications company) were affected after an underground cable went faulty. Openreach, who install and maintain the local network on behalf of all communications providers, apologies for the unforeseeable delays.

“Temporary traffic lights were needed in order for engineers to carry out the repairs safely.”
