A WEEK of activities has been organised to raise awareness of Dementia Action Week by the Ross Meeting Centre, which runs a monthly memory cafe for anyone experiencing memory problems.

Dementia Action Week is a national awareness week that shines a light on dementia, challenges stigma and encourages people to take positive action to support those affected and runs between May 18 and 24.

The first community event is being held at Ross Library on Monday May 18 between 11am and 2pm with many organisations on hand ready to answer questions, provide information and support, including the Alzheimer's Society, CarerLinks, Social Prescribers, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, West Mercia Police Safer Neighbourhood team, Admiral Nurses and Herefordshire Veterans Support.

Throughout the week there is something for everyone, including a tea dance on May 23 between 2pm and 4pm at Ross Conservative Club and a barbecue at Rosedale Retirement Home on Sunday, May 24 between 2pm and 4pm.

There will be more chances to meet up with the group’s volunteers at the Market Stall on Thursday May 21 and at Bands in the Park on Sunday, May 24 and learn more about the work it does and how the members might be of help to anyone living with dementia and their families.
