A concerned resident has sent pictures of the field at the Rope Walk on the morning of Sunday, October 2nd, after teenagers had been drinking and having barbecues on the field. The picture above – one of several – is of the rubbish they left when they went home. Sue Tyler says every time the weather is good this is what the people who live nearby have to wake up to.
She asked the Gazette to print a picture so that parents can see what their sons and daughters leave behind after a night out on the field.
Councillor Chris Bartrum told the Gazette, he thought it was a shame that so much money is spent on clearing the site up, but the Amey contractors do a really good job.
A Herefordshire Council spokesman said: "Amey didn't deploy extra resources to clear the litter at the Ropewalk over the weekend but do routinely litter pick the area both on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Littering carries a fixed penalty notice of £80.
If anyone is interested in joining Councillor Bartrum on a voluntary litter pick on Saturday, October 29th please contact him on 01989 563299.
