THOUGHTLESS dog owners have been slammed over piles of muck left on a sports club’s playing field.
One woman said she is absolutely fed-up with clearing muck from Ross-on-Wye RFC’s Greytree ground, and says those responsible are putting at risk the right of other pet owners to walk their animals there.
And others have taken to social media saying the problem on streets in other parts of the town is terrible.
The woman posted: “To the irresponsible person who left a pile of dog poo to the left of the flood lights on Ross Rugby Club, I cleaned up after you!
“This is one adult cleaning up after another adult, not a parent cleaning up after a child!!
“I didn’t do this for you, I did it to remove the risk to the players from the nasties in dog poo that your thoughtless selfish actions exposed them to!
“I did it because we are privileged to have permission to walk our dogs around the perimeter of the club grounds, that your selfish lazy actions put at risk.
“And, I did it because, unlike you, I feel blessed to live in Ross and care about the environment and my neighbours!”
She added anyone who was physically incapable of picking up after them could at least kick the poo into the gutter or a bush, rather than leaving it in the middle of the path.
“If you can’t manage any of this, you shouldn’t have a dog!” she stormed.
“Challenge, shame & fine, it’s the only way to get through to some selfish lazy people that this behaviour is unacceptable…
“The rant was a long time coming and the uncleared poo was the last one of many! Thoughtless, lazy people are one of my pet hates.”
A Ross RFC spokesperson responded: “On behalf of Ross Rugby Club thank you for cleaning up after somebody else.
“As a club we spent an awful lot of money putting in the permissible walk around the outside of our pitches.
“We don’t want to stop people using the area for leisure and dog walking, that is why we put the walk in.
“All we ask is that people respect what we have done for them. If you do walk your dog inside the fence, please keep them off the playing areas and clean up behind them.
“There are not just adults, who have good spacial awareness and would maybe see dog muck on the floor, but a lot of children of all ages that play rugby as well.”
Others labelled the dog fouling “disgusting”, “unacceptable”, “horrible” and “shameful”.
Some also highlighted bagged-up dog muck being thrown in bushes, trees and the undergrowth in town, and one who said she had even seen two under under an information board at the woodland car park in Ganarew asked whether they expected “the poo fairy” to remove them.
One woman posted: “Next person to leave dog mess outside my house at Springfield Road, I will be reporting as I have cctv.”
Another said: “Had a huge dollop on my pathway at weekend as well… Ashgrove Crescent, why the hell can’t people just pick up their dog’s ****!”
Another woman noted that on her street “there has been muck right on the pavement” in the last few days “and today it’s even on my driveway! It’s disgusting!”
