Although I have enjoyed every play I have seen at the Phoenix Theatre I was a little unsure of what to expect of the latest production, Morning Departure by Kenneth Woollard.
The thought of watching men in a doomed submarine lose their fight for escape did not really appeal to someone who usually prefers a good musical or light-hearted comedy.
However I was gripped from the moment the play started and found I really cared about the men in their stricken sub. It was also very effective to see the onshore action as the naval commanders did their best to organise a rescue mission.
