The heavens opened at around 5pm on Thursday, May 31st in Ross-on-Wye Many people making their way home, after enjoying a warm sunny day, were caught in the downpour.
Torrential rain and thunderstorms lashed many parts of the county and an amber weather warning was in place for much of the night.
A video taken by local resident Jess Teague of water pouring along a Herefordshire lane went viral when it was posted on the Ross Gazette facebook page.
Ms Teague also took pictures showing the terrific deluge of water passing along the lane which left it badly damaged and, like many other roads across the county affected by potholes.
A Herefordshire Council spokesperson said: “The high volumes of rainfall over a short period on May 31st caused flash flooding in several areas in the county. The C1262 near How Caple was affected, and warning signs were erected to warn road users of the damage to the road. There are currently several defects awaiting repair, and we anticipate they will be repaired within the next few days.”
