The Foresters had put 36 points on their visitors earlier in the season, but this time the Old Cryptians team arrived in a very determined mood. Although Drybrook made the first real attack they squandered a penalty on the five metre line by going blind instead of using a three-man overlap on the open side, and were held up on the try line.

A string of penalties then forced Drybrook backwards: good Old Cryptians pressure eventually saw them intercept a back line pass and Konah Dyer sped over for the opening try. The visitors were in the ascendant for the rest of the period but although they kept Drybrook quiet Old Cryptians couldn't capitalise on the Forester's mistakes: at the break the score was still 0-5.

Drybrook improved in the second half, with Luke Kavanagh, Max Pratten and Adam Rees in particular, regularly testing the Old Cryptians defence and Max Pye playing well on his return from injury. Will Greenway and Jordan Taylor battered away down the middle while Blaine Harris, Luke Roberts, Jason Jones and Huw Rimmer attacked down the touchlines.

Old Cryptians were hanging on to their slim lead through some valiant tackling but the tide had turned: with only six minutes to go Drybrook centre Alex Iles carved his way down the touchline, eventually scoring close to the posts. Rhys Chandler converted to deny Old Cryptians a first win over this Forest side: the visitors had played the better rugby for most of the match but when Drybrook got into gear they had just enough firepower to kill off the contest. Old Cryptians will be treated with much more respect at the next meeting between these two teams.
