For the sixth year running, Brampton Abbotts School Choir took part in Young Voices one of the largest schools’ choir events in the world.

Twenty-two Year 5 and 6 children travelled to the Genting Arena in Birmingham where they sang with over 6,000 other children in front of an audience of over 12,000 people.

The children had been practising the songs and dance moves for a term in an after school club and were joined for the event by professional acts such as The Urban Strides street dance crew, soul singer Natalie Williams and street busker and You Tube sensation Alfie Sheard.

They were conducted by renowned classical conductor David Lawrence. It was said to be an amazing evening and the atmosphere was electric.

Choir leader and Deputy Headteacher, Sara Herriott said: “The children sang their hearts out to an eclectic mix of music including songs by Ed Sheeran and Stevie Wonder along with some songs from stage musicals, film and television cartoon theme tunes. It was a real privilege to sing in such an amazing venue alongside such amazing artists and the children were patient during the long rehearsals, enthusiastic and a real credit to the school. It was an event that they will remember for the rest of their lives.”
