A former Brampton Abbotts Primary School pupil, Alex Kear always had a flair for art and design technology while she was at the school. This flair became her passion and she recently gained a first class honours degree in Interior Architecture in Chelmsford.

Since Alex has returned from University to Ross-on-Wye, she has been working with staff and pupils at her former primary school to redesign the interior spaces at the school to make it a happier and more purposeful place to enjoy learning.

The school’s mission statement is “Happiness is created through achievement and achievement is created through happiness” and this re-styling of the school certainly helps them to fulfil this. The school has become more stimulating and reflective.

Each area has a different theme, from the Rainbow Small Group Room to the mysterious forest of the Library. Donaldson Class has an ‘inside meets the outside’ woodland feel, whilst the older children in Rowling Class have a calming symphony of purples, blues and greys in their spacious classroom. Other classes have geometry and geography themes so that learning possibilities are all around them.  Everything from the striking carpets to the tessellating tables has been meticulously designed and executed.

Headteacher, Mr Brearey commented: “Alex has done an amazing job and we are most proud that her talents started and were nurtured in our school.”
