The School Council at John Kyrle High School was pleased to welcome a special guest to their meeting last week. Councillor Nigel Gibbs, Mayor of Ross-on-Wye, met with Headteacher Nigel Griffiths as well as students from all year groups representing the School Council.
The Mayor went on to address the meeting during which he gave a presentation on the Air Ambulance charity. The school will be supporting this charity alongside Diabetes UK during the year with fundraising activities. Cllr Gibbs also used the opportunity to tell the students about a flag design competition involving a potential collaboration between the Art Department at JKHS and the Royal British Legion.
Cllr Gibbs commented on the smooth organisation of the meeting and how well behaved and considerate the students were. He went on to say how pleased he was to note how the school had engaged with the democratic process during the Referendum and General Election.
