Parents have been left feeling confused, and a little concerned, after an email was sent out in error by Herefordshire Council, concerning secondary school places.
Herefordshire Council have reported that due to a computer error, parents waiting for an offer at a local secondary school may have received an e-mail today offering a place, but the Council have since said that this information may not be accurate and the email has been sent in error, whilst testing the school admissions system.
Herefordshire Council said: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused and ask that this e-mail is ignored; formal offers will be sent in March 2016."
On the Ross-on-Wye Notice Board on Facebook, a local parent, Michelle Kings wrote: "Yesterday I had two emails confirming my son’s place at John Kyrle. Today I received this....I hope it’s not an error as I’ve not picked a second choice!!! Anyone else get these emails?"
Several other people commented that they had received the email, but advised that they would not know whether their child had secured a place at their chosen secondary school until March 2016.
