BREAKING a few eggs might mean Steve Kittner has broken a few records.

Steve, a music technology lecturer and secretary of Weston FC, likes a breakfast omelette or scrambled eggs of a morning.

But although he has had cracked open a few double yolked eggs before, he was surprised to keep finding them in a box he opened last week.

He was shocked when he opened not just one, two or three eggs with double yolks – but out of a dozen, nine of the eggs had double yolks. Steve's girlfriend, Louise Gunter, bought the eggs from a post office in Hempsted, Gloucester.

According to the British Egg Information Service the chances of getting one double yolk in a box of eggs was one in 1,000. The chances of getting all six double yolks in one box, therefore, more than one in a trillion. Do the maths, as they say!

When Steve had opened six eggs he brought the rest to the Ross Gazette office to open them.

If anyone has heard of more than nine double yolks in one dozen let the Ross Gazette know.
