Madam, May I through your letters page thank the hundreds of people who voted for me in last week's local government elections.

To come top in the Ross West poll for both the County and Town Council was a huge surprise for me.

I promise that I will work as hard in the next four years as I did in the last four.

And thanks too for all the messages of support and encouragement that I have received in the last few weeks.
