The Wye Valley is always a wonderful place to visit, at any time of the year, and there are several attractions featured in this week’s Ross Gazette which shoud inspire you to get out and enjoy this fabulous location.

Set on the banks of the River Wye, amidst breathtaking scenery at Tintern, the award winning Abbey Mills is an ideal spot to pause for a while, for some shopping or to visit their coffee shop and restaurant. It’s open all year round, seven days a week. There is ample car parking, great views in every direction and much to do and see in the centre itself.

Also in Tintern is the ‘Spirit of the Green Man Studio,’ which sells a large selection of artist, Kathleen Minton’s, hand made Green Men, hares and other mystical sculptures, as well as a wide range of unusual gifts.

Nearer to Ross, the Hostelrie at Goodrich is a great place for food, serving everything from pub classics to a new ’prix fixe’ menu.

Of course, the Wye Valley has inspired generations of artists and a visit to the Wye Valley Art Society’s Spring Exhibition at the Shire Hall in Monmouth at Easter is a must.
