MADAM, On behalf of the Ross Fairtrade Steering Croup, I would like to thank you for the excellent support the Ross Gazette has given us over the last two weeks by printing the articles about the Fairtrade Christmas Cake.
I saw the cake on Saturday. It had been specially baked for us by Bev Pope and it looked delicious, but I was not fortunate enough to win it and my guess as to its weight was way off.
The actual weight was 4lb 13oz. and the lucky winner of the Fairtrade cake was Mr D Bedford with a very close estimate of 4lb 14oz. The second prize, a hamper of Fairtrade goodies, was won by Pat Williams.
People who are interested in making the Fairtrade Christmas Cake should have little trouble these days sourcing the ingredients in Ross' local shops but should there be any problem they may be interested to know that there are two churches in Ross that have regular sales of Fairtrade products.
The Quaker Meeting House at the bottom of Brampton Street has its sale on the first Saturday morning in every month and Christ Church's sale is on the last Saturday of the month.
