Ross-on-Wye’s fire and rescue service are urging drivers to take caution during winter weather conditions.

Among numerous call-outs, Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service responded to a spate of road traffic collisions involving 12 vehicles over Friday and the weekend, as well as two wood-burning stove incidents.

The incidents took place amidst extreme winter conditions earlier this month.

The incidents took place right across our area, involving vehicle collisions, vehicle and motorcycle fires, vehicles hitting a building and a telegraph pole, and landing on their side, upside down, and in a ditch. The wood-burning stove fires involved a fire in a chimney stack and one extending to roof space, much of which was destroyed.

The fire service are advising drivers to pay attention to the changing road, traffic, and weather conditions, and to slow down and take extra care, particularly on bends and exposed roads.
