Ross-on-Wye Fire Station held a charity car wash on Saturday, March 30th to raise vital funds, and the event managed to raise nearly £1000 in total. Many local residents and visitors made donations and supported their efforts.

A spokesperson for Ross-on-Wye Fire Station said: “Huge thanks to everyone who came and had their cars washed today. We raised a fantastic £955 in total.”

Every year hundreds of fire stations across the UK compete against each other to wash as many cars as possible and raise as much money as possible for The Fire Fighters Charity.

The charity aim to help firefighters with the mental, physical and social burdens that can come from being a past or present member of the UK’s fire services community. They ‘rescue the rescuers’ and help them to recover their lives when they need it most.

The money that was raised is being split this year between The Firefighters Charity, which will get £477.50, and Ross’ own firefighter, Andrew Hedges, who will get £477.50 added to his London Marathon total, which he is running this year for the British Heart Foundation. You can still donate to Andrew via his charity page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundrais ing/andrew-hedges2.

A spokesperson for the Fire Station said: “Thank you Ross-on-Wye - you are an awesome town and we are proud to be here for you whenever you dial 999.”
