Local father, Jack Ingleby-Lewis was horrifed when he saw a firework being thrown from a car near to the main entrance to Morrisons supermarket.

He told the Ross Gazette that the firework was aimed towards a group of teenagers but landed very close to a young girl, who was about seven, and his son. He said that he went into the store to report it to security and he understood that it was also reported to the police.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police told the Gazette that officers were called to several reports of people throwing fireworks from cars.

Two incidents were reported involving a black Skoda and a blue Volkswagen Golf in the Station Street and the Homs Road areas of Ross at around 9pm on Saturday. November 4th.

A partial number plate was given to the police but they were unable to locate the vehicle.

Nobody was injured during the incident but investigations are on-going, with police asking anyone with information to call 101 and quote incident number 743s of November 4th.

Mr Ingleby-Lewis told the Gazette that he can remember seeing television films and adverts, as a youngster, warning about the dangers of fireworks, and especially throwing them.

He said:?“There does not seem to be anything like that now. It would be a good idea to bring them back as I am sure Ross is not the only place where this happens. Youngsters need to know they could cause serious damage.”
