FISHING on the River Wye has been banned following the low levels of water flowing through the area.

The Ross-on-Wye Angling Club made the decision to ban fishing from July 5 because of the lack of rain, low river flows and fish welfare, until further notice.

The club’s committee will be regularly monitor the situation and weather forecasts, and it will re-open the waterways to fishing as soon as is reasonable.

Club members will be notified by email, non-members looking to fish on the day ticket section, can refer to the club’s website to see when the river is again open for fishing.

The move echoes that of Hereford and District Angling Association which has also banned fishing in the local waterways from July 13.
