A FLAG raising ceremony was held in Ross-on-Wye to commemorate The Korean War Armistice.

On Sunday July 27, members of the Ross-on-Wye and District Royal British Legion branch and the town’s mayor, Councillor Linden Delves, took part in the service and acknowledged the sacrifice of approximately 60,000 British combat troops who served during the war.

The Korean War which began in June 1950m was an armed conflict on the Korean Peninsula fought between the Democratic People's Republic of North Korea and the Republic of (South) Korea which was supported by the United Nations Command, led by the United States.

Fighting ended on July 27,1953 with an armistice, but no peace treaty, leading to the ongoing Korean conflict.
