Philip Davies, of Ross Rowing Club, spent Saturday, March 18th raising money for St Michael’s Hospice, in memory of former rower, Neil Coulson.
Neil passed away, aged 55 on March 7th, while recovering in St Michael’s Hospice from a debilitating condition which came about when he collapsed just before Christmas.
Neil rowed at Ross Rowing Club from 1995 to 2000, achieving many excellent wins with many different crews, through his vast strength and enthusiasm. His power on the indoor rowing machine (the ‘ergo’) is legendary, setting times approaching international standard.
Members of Ross Rowing Club, past and present, joined hundreds of people, including many ex-players from Hereford Rugby Club, at the Christian Life Centre at Hereford for Neil’s funeral on Friday, March 17th, where it was highlighted how much Neil, and his wife Julie, were prominent and active members of the church in Hereford.
Philip had arranged to do an eight hour sponsored ergo for St Michael’s Hospice before Neil passed away, and has since been overwhelmed by the support that he has received; over £1,400 has now been donated.
