Tenants and staff of Two Rivers Housing have been joined by the whole community in raising more than £1,200 for Macmillan Cancer Support recently.

Always happy to embrace an excuse for cake, staff at the Newent office raised £156 in a morning selling home-made fayre and challenging colleagues to take part in some food-related competitions.

Then tenants at four housing schemes were joined by their friends and neighbours to buy hot drinks and cake, raffle tickets and tombola prizes and enjoy a few hours of socialising as they supported this excellent charity at four separate events.

Ann Pugh, a Two Rivers Housing HomePlus Scheme Co-ordinator, who led the fundraising activities at Hilldean/Worcester Road, told the Gazette: “This was a fantastic effort from staff, tenants and the community right across the Forest, giving their support to a brilliant cause that affects so many people.

“Supporting communities is an important part of what Two Rivers does, and occasions like these show how good we are at coming together to help others.”See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
