THE County’s new garden waste collection service got underway in style last week as Herefordshire Council took delivery of thousands of new brown bins.
Deliveries to homes across the county is now underway, ahead of the first collection season starting in March.
Under the scheme, the council will collect garden waste from brown bins every fortnight, turning it into compost to support future green growth.
Subscriptions, which opened last October, cost just £60 for the year – that’s £2.40 per collection.
Residents can place grass cuttings, hedge clippings, leaves, twigs, small branches, dead flowers, weeds, and windfall fruit in their bins. T
he service provides a 240-litre brown bin or, if the property isn’t suitable for a bin, four 60-litre reusable sacks.
