MEMBERS of the ’Av A Go’ Panto Group, which includes residents of Garway, St Weonard’s and Skenfrith, will be performing their annual pantomime at Garway Village Hall on February 18th and 19th at 7.30pm and on Saturday, February 20th at 2pm and 7.30pm.

Pirates of the Panto will be the last show at the Old Village Hall before work starts on the new Lottery-funded hall.

At a committee meeting when ideas were being put forward for ways to raise money to pay for this new hall there was a lot of reminiscing about the Garway pantomimes that used to be performed, and so it was decided to

see what interest there was in the village for restarting them. The response was good with and, in February 2001, under the leadership of Tony Phillips, “Little Red Riding Hood” was performed for three nights in Garway Village Hall and was a huge success, raising vital funds for the “Garway New Hall Fund” and the Air Ambulance.

Members of the group have come and gone over the years, but there are still three of the original members left, Clare Francis, Kath Jasper and Lorraine Webb.

Each year they’ve supported the New Hall Fund along with another ’local’ charity.

Pirates of the panto promises to be an exciting family event and tickets are available from St Weonard’s shop, Broad Oak Garage and the Garway Moon
