ONE man who is hoping to get 2011 off to an excellent start on the Team GMF Wyedean Forest Rally this Saturday is Roger Chilman. Together with Andrew Sankey, now armed with the ex-Will Nicholls Subaru Impreza S9 WRC, Chilman conducted a short test last weekend to get used to the new machine.
The highly rated Chilman will face stiff opposition from friends and rivals Andy Burton (Peugeot Cosworth), Nigel Griffiths(Impreza), Shaun Gardner (Lancer Evo 5) and Theo Bengry (Focus WRC) as well as the Focus WRC's of Paul Bird and Charlie Payne and Impreza WRC of Roger Duckworth. Local star Nik Elsmore (Evo9) is hopeful of a good haul of BTRDA points in the Haywood Civil Engineering/Securcom,Kuhmo Tyre shod Impreza.
The Wyedean has attracted a quality entry of 180 cars in all three categories. Crews will tackle seven Special stages in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley and first car leaves Chepstow Racecourse at 8 am on Saturday February 12th.
