MADAM, I am writing this as I am a young mother who feels like the council doesn't want to help me out. Currently my partner, myself and our young daughter are taking up half my partner's parents' lounge with our bedroom.
The council has rated us as Silver as we are living with family. Also now I have a work experience placement for six hours a week as part of my college course. So I get a letter from the jobcentre stating that I am no longer going to receive jobseekers allowance as I am not available for work.
I think this is disgraceful as I have been pestered by the jobcentre to get a work experience placement while I am unemployed. So my income will only be the child tax credits and child benefits that I get for my daughter. I can't see myself getting a job as I am not even getting as far as an interview as so many people are applying for the same job. I can see why many young people are depressed. I suggest that the jobcentre and the local housing association sort themselves out and try and help people.
