THE Bridstow Footpath Volunteers and the Ross Ramblers have been busy on Buckcastle Hill in Bridstow, near Ross-on-Wye. They have removed two stiles and have replaced them with two new pedestrian gates supplied by Balfour Beatty. This brings the total of new gates installed by the volunteers in the Parish of Bridstow during the last five years to 13, an excellent achievement.
The Parish now has an almost stile-free network of public footpaths offering easier access for local walkers and visitors alike. Older and less-able walkers and residents are delighted to be able to walk the paths without having to worry about climbing difficult stiles. All the Public Rights of Way in the Parish are clearly waymarked and dogs on leads are very welcome.
