All of the pupils at Goodrich Primary School grabbed their litter pickers and bin bags and set off to help the environment surrounding their school and give Goodrich a good clean on up Monday, April 1st. A spokesperson for the school told the Ross Gazette: “It was no joke - litter was found in the play areas, along the roads, by the church and around the castle car park.”
The children commented that they did not fill as many bags as usual because the rubbish collected was in smaller pieces – in particular cigarette ends. Through their work with the Marine Conservation Society, the school knows that it is these small pieces of rubbish that cause most harm to wildlife. Their plea is “Stop the Drop” of all litter.
The school’s Eco Council organised the event as part of the Goodrich Village Spring Clean which continued on April 7th when the rest of Goodrich community tackled the main roads around the village.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
